"This experience has meant moving forward with my grief still holding it so close but being able to live a fulfilled life with happiness and intention. I genuinely feel like I know where I'm going and Rio has been the biggest part of that" - Carla
"I was nervous, signing up and committing to the group. There was trepidation and questioning my own decisions and judgement. Rio created a beautifully warm and safe space, from the tenor of her voice, to the presentation of tools and techniques... it was soft and comforting without any pressure. I am really grateful for the short time our group had together." - Alix B.

"This group has been something I didn’t even realize I needed. It gave me a place where I could feel less alone in my grief, where everyone showed up in their own way and it all aligned so beautifully. It created a sense of safety for me to process, to learn, and to understand more about how grief touches every part of us, even how our brains are working through it. I walked away with so many tools for my grief journey, but more than that, I walked away feeling held and seen. I’ll forever be grateful for the love, care, and intention Rio poured into this space."

"The grief portal programme was a long 8 week, consistent, deep, incredible experience, full of knowledge, reflective sections, and people who really understand what you're going through. With it, I felt heard, I also heard other grievers. It's a club no one wants to join but it's great to find support in others and read their reflections too, that may even change your perspective on life, death, and many things between. Thank you Rio for providing this space with so much love, warmth and in such a welcoming manner. Truly grateful for the opportunity and time spent!"

Grief is an experience of a lifetime that had dismantled my heart and dismantled my hope. Yet after completing 8 weeks of exercises both written and creative I am better equipped to hold strong feelings simultaneously, beautiful joy that life surrounds us with and also the utter loss of our most special person. The Grief Portal Group Community will walk beside you through very hard and intimate feelings. In our culture many times people we thought would support us run very far away. Thank You Rio, for not running, I will always carry in my heart this gift I gave myself.

Rio is a profound healer and expert in grief. She speaks a grief language that many do not, and helps so many people suffering in a culture where grief is so poorly understood. Her wisdom, sense of humor and relatability make her a significant teacher. I would highly recommend anyone on a grief journey consider joining one of her groups.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if I'm not creative or an artist?
This isn't about making anything pretty, or complete, or being talented. It's about expression- colors, shape, texture, anything at all. It's about feeling into where words can't touch. You'll get a simple supply list of basic, affordable materials. No artistic experience needed!
  • What if I can't attend a session live?
Every session is recorded and you'll have lifetime access. You can catch up anytime and still get the full benefit of the program. Life happens, and we've got you covered.
  • What if I'm not ready to share my story with others?
You never have to share more than you're comfortable with. There will be space at the end of the creative portion to share what came through for you (insights/ new understandings/ new ponderings/ takeaways), but this is not a "processing group" where anyone is encouraged to share details of their loss. You can participate at whatever level feels safe for you.
  • Who is this group for? What kind of loss?
All kinds. Death of a person, end of a relationship, loss of identity, dreams that didn't happen, health changes...any loss that's left you feeling different than you were before. Grief is grief, and it is all welcomed.
  • Who is Rio? Meet your space holder.
Rio is a licensed therapist in California, an international grief integration coach, a certified somatic practitioner, and has been featured in PEOPLE magazine for her work with grief. She brings clinical training, specialized grief expertise, and personal experience to create this unique program.
  • How is this different from therapy or other grief support?
This combines multiple approaches (education, IFS parts work, somatics, and creativity) that most programs don't offer together, or in this way. I call it an "out, in, and through" approach to the layers of loss. It's group-based, experiential, explorative, creative, and focuses on understanding your whole system - mind, body, and expression. It's coaching, not therapy.
